Payment Plan and other financial details: A deposit of $300 dollars per person is required as soon as possible in order to secure your place. Please bring your deposit checks to me or to Sandi Delabar, Secretary of Social Sciences Department, or mail them to our SSU address or put in an envelope and push under my office’s door. Make check payable to “Shawnee State University.” If a participant can pay for the entire cost of the trip in one payment it is recommended that they should do so at this stage.

When you give us your deposit please indicate to us if you:

ü      Will be taking the tour as a student planning to enroll in the course

If you are traveling alone we will find same gender roommates for you.

When you give us your deposit please provide us with your

Ø     Current e-mail address

Ø     Home address

Ø     Phone number

Your check will not be cashed. I will hold on to them until such time when there are enough participants to make the trip a go. I will then e-mail all of you to notify you that the trip is a go and whether you still plan to take it and that you have enough funds in your bank account to cover the check. If at this point your plans to participate have changed then I will return the check to you. Otherwise, I will give the checks to SSU's business office so that they can be cashed. SSU will then wire the money to the travel agency in Holland for our land package and to the airlines as deposits in reserving our tour. After the wired money are in their bank accounts you can still opt out of the tour, if you must for some reason, but there might/will be no refund.

Please note: You can pay in installments providing that complete payment is made by three months prior to departure. The payment plan contains a certain degree of flexibility but please try to be prompt.  Please let me know as soon as problems with your payments develop. All payments will be made to the same name, i.e. "Shawnee State University."

All participants will need a valid passport. No visa is required for US passports. For non-US passport holders please check with your country’s consulate or with the consulate/embassy of any one of our destination nations on the Internet. If you do not already have a passport you need to apply for one ASAP. ASAP. Currently the estimated time to receive a passport is 10 weeks. The total cost for a passport is $97. This includes the application fee $67, and the execution fee $30. If you are applying for a passport for the first time, you must apply in person. However, you can download the form that you need. Go on-line at www.travel.state.gov and download a copy of the DS 11 passport form. You can apply for your passport by going to the Scioto County Clerk of Courts, 602 7th Street (355-8226) or Portsmouth Main Post Office 610 Gay St. (353-7579).  When applying, you must bring a valid driver's license and an original birth certificate or a certified copy of it. You must also bring 2 official passport photographs. You can get those at Wal-Mart or at the local AAA office. For more information on accepted documentation, visit http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_830.html. If you don’t order your passport ahead of time, you can expedite the process and receive your passport in 2 weeks. You will need to pay an additional service fee of $60, plus $27 the cost of overnight delivery services; the cost of this service will add $87 to the total cost for the passport, total cost $184.

For all participants (US or non-US): The complete name you will give me or Sandi Delabar will be used to reserve your airline seats. The airline will use this name to eventually issue you the ticket. The name on your ticket must be identical to the name in your passport.

Please note: Priority for participation is for those who take the tour as students. This is a summer semester 2008 course. You will need to register for this class, as you do with your other classes, when summer semester 2008 registration begins.

There will be space for “community members” to join the group. “Community members” are defined as any person willing to come along. Priority will be given to relatives/significant others/friends of enrolled students. You are welcome to submit their names (and deposit money). They will be accepted on a first signed up basis. The goal is to have about 25 - 30 persons traveling in order to ensure the better rate so please help me advertise this tour. There is no age limitation.

There will be 3 to 4 pre-trip orientation group meetings. Participants will be notified accordingly and in a timely manner when those will occur. All participants are required to attend these. Many aspects of the trip and travel advisories will be discussed. There will also be a series of meetings of an academic nature. All enrolled students are required to attend these. Non-student participants may attend if they so wish.

Finally, I look forward to being your professor and guide in a great study tour such as this if past trips are an indication of their worth. For returning veterans I feel doubly honored in sharing this adventure with you. Please see me for any questions not discussed here or elsewhere in this site.
